About the role
- Improve Mango's interactive reader by helping build and refine grammar-tagging tools
- Automate grammar tagging to develop new Brazilian Portuguese passages
- Perform basic translation of passages from English to Brazilian Portuguese
- Identify grammatical features (part of speech, person/number/gender, tense, etc.) using provided guidelines
- Attend a limited number of meetings to provide feedback and discuss results with the team
- Commit approximately 5-10 hours per week for about 3 months, with possible future phases
Requirements
- Native speaker/writer of the Brazilian dialect of Portuguese
- Advanced proficiency in English
- Able to identify grammatical features like part of speech, person/number/gender, tense, etc. with guidelines
- Good familiarity with Google Suite (Sheets, Docs, file sharing)
- Able to attend occasional meetings on Google Meets during EST work hours
- Ability to learn new technologies
- (Desirable) Experience teaching Brazilian Portuguese to English speakers
- (Desirable) Experience working on natural language processing tagging projects or similar
- (Desirable) Degree in language teaching, applied linguistics, or similar
- (Desirable) Writing or editing experience in Brazilian Portuguese or another language
- (Desirable) Experience or expertise in teaching writing or reading
