About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design and implement cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure services for compute, container orchestration, and managed databases
Develop reference architectures and best practices for scalable, resilient, and cost-effective infrastructure
Lead architecture reviews and provide technical guidance to development teams
Create and maintain infrastructure as code
Ensure cloud infrastructure design aligns with SOC requirements
Implement cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, role-based access control, and network segmentation
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for third-party compliance auditors
Support audits, evidence collection, and remediation
Maintain documentation required for SOC audits
Own security-relevant configuration and controls for cloud infrastructure
Monitor virtual machine resource utilization and address capacity or performance issues
Apply operating system and security patches to virtual machines
Perform routine platform maintenance across cloud environments
Monitor system logs and alerts and troubleshoot infrastructure issues
Respond to and resolve infrastructure-related incidents, documenting root cause and remediation
Design for high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity across cloud regions
Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting using observability tools
Optimize cloud costs through right sizing, reserved capacity, and governance policies
Support cloud infrastructure incident response
Partner with engineering and leadership to align cloud strategy with business goals
Act as a liaison between internal teams and external compliance auditors
Mentor engineers on cloud architecture best practices
Communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
5+ years of experience designing and implementing solutions on major cloud platforms
Strong understanding of SOC requirements and experience supporting compliance audits with external auditors
Strong cloud networking and systems administration skills
Experience with virtual networks, subnets, firewalls, load balancing, DNS, and server configuration and maintenance
Hands-on experience with identity management and security services
Experience with infrastructure as code tooling
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Strong understanding of encryption, key management, and secure data handling
Comfort owning security-related decisions independently
Excellent communication and documentation skills
Cloud architecture or security certifications from major cloud providers preferred
Experience with hybrid or multi-cloud environments preferred
Familiarity with ISO 27001, PCI DSS, or GDPR preferred
Experience with container orchestration platforms preferred
Must be able to show documentation authorizing legal work in the United States of America
