About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Guide frontend and interaction evolution from a static component library to an intelligent experience engine
Define, encode, and scale Malt’s digital-product quality standards
Embed design guidelines into the system so automated outputs and generated code reflect Malt’s visual identity
Lead a specialized team of design and system experts
Collaborate with three dedicated systems engineers
Own the strategic direction, governance models, and technical roadmap for the Experience Systems & AI team
Define UI standards for layout, motion, responsiveness, and token architecture
Oversee taxonomy, content logic, and tone rules within the system
Manage and coach senior specialists, including a Senior Product Designer and Content Designer
Streamline code generation and asset extraction workflows
Implement automated visual testing in integration pipelines
Partner with systems engineers on context-aware, adaptive UI components

Requirements

What you’ll need

Solid track record leading small engineering-adjacent squads or design systems teams
Deep experience in design token architecture, systems management, or design engineering
Understanding of how Large Language Models handle structured data and interact with data schemas
Ability to structure context to support predictable UI layouts
Premium, uncompromising eye for UI detail
Ability to codify brand DNA and high-fidelity polish into technical systems
Experience with scale and design-process automation
Fluency in English required
Comfortable exploring the codebase and discussing component architecture with engineers (bonus)
Hands-on experience with LLM orchestration and structuring data models (bonus)
