About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, build, and operate MaintainX’s public-facing REST APIs
Implement API standards and patterns including authentication/authorization, rate limiting, versioning, filtering, pagination, idempotency, error semantics, and backwards compatibility
Design robust batch and bulk API operations for high-volume synchronization and enterprise migrations
Decouple the REST API layer from monolithic dependencies and implement contract testing for GraphQL and REST stability
Build scaffolding, templates, and shared libraries for connector and integration development
Improve CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and quality gates for integrations and ecosystem services
Produce developer documentation and reference implementations such as SDKs
Contribute to infrastructure and workflows for publishing, versioning, and supporting integrations in marketplaces
Enable automation-driven onboarding, connection creation, credential management, and environment configuration
Build reusable integration foundations for enterprise systems such as SAP, Oracle EBS/NetSuite, and Microsoft Dynamics
Ensure integrations meet enterprise standards for security, auditability, performance, and operability
Own production services end-to-end, including monitoring, on-call, incident response, root-cause analysis, and hardening
Drive performance tuning and reliability improvements using SLIs/SLOs, logs, traces, and metrics

Requirements

What you’ll need

4+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend systems, APIs, or platform products
Strong experience with service-oriented backend development
Experience with TypeScript, Go, or C#, and willingness to learn other languages
Strong experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and data modeling
Solid foundation in distributed systems fundamentals: reliability, scalability, consistency, and failure modes
Experience shipping production-grade APIs and focusing on developer experience and platform usability
Strong testing mindset covering unit, integration, end-to-end, and contract testing
Hands-on CI/CD experience
Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Design, and customer-facing teams
Nice to have: experience with API platforms, SDKs, iPaaS/connectors, marketplaces, webhooks/events, and ETL/sync patterns
Nice to have: familiarity with OAuth2/OIDC, API keys, token rotation, and least privilege
Nice to have: experience with SAP S/4HANA or ECC 6, SAP BTP, Oracle EBS/NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics
Nice to have: experience building self-serve admin/debug tooling
Nice to have: experience with Workato, Tray, or Zapier from a product/platform engineering perspective
