About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide nursing leadership for a nursing unit/department during the assigned shift
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to staff
- Assist with or manage direct patient care in complex or difficult matters
- Determine, coordinate, and monitor patient flow between units
- Maximize organizational resources and meet service level objectives
- Evaluate patient-care effectiveness and identify issues affecting desired outcomes
- Coordinate patient-care services with staff, physicians, and other departments
- Respond to complaints and conflicts through established channels
- Make administrative decisions when the Department Manager/Director is absent
- Work at both the Thayer and Alfond Center for Health campuses in Waterville and Augusta
Requirements
What you’ll need- Active Maine RN licensure or ability to obtain it in a timely fashion, required
- BSN preferred
- Clinical expertise in emergency department nursing or intensive care nursing
- At least 5 years as a staff nurse with supervisory/charge nurse experience preferred
- Excellent leadership, effective communication, and autonomous critical-thinking skills
- Ability to handle complex management problems
- Ability to communicate collaboratively with staff and physicians
- Ability to build rapport by working alongside staff as needed
- Full-time exempt availability for a weekday schedule with variable hours, including some evenings
- Ability to participate in call
