About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage, directly supervise, and coordinate clinical and/or nonclinical management staff, including utilization management and intensive care management staff
- Provide expertise in designated programs
- Assist clinical management with development and ongoing management of designated staff
- Perform care management review activities consistent with Magellan policies, procedures, and standards
- Recruit, interview, and select qualified staff and ensure appropriate orientation
- Monitor care management staff performance and adherence to efficiency goals, including case volume, case closure rates, average handle time, and other metrics
- Supervise staff through approved audit processes, perform annual reviews, and provide counseling and disciplinary action as necessary
- Coordinate quality improvement activities under clinical management direction
- Assist with strategic and operational goals and plans
- Identify and coordinate clinical and client service training needs
- Analyze utilization problems and plan and implement solutions influencing quality of care and cost efficiency
- Supervise collection of pertinent clinical information while maintaining provider relationships
- Perform additional duties aligned with the intent of the role as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 years post-degree experience in a direct care clinical setting
- Managed care experience preferred
- 1 year of direct supervisory experience required
- One or more current, active licenses required: BCBA, LCSW, LMFT, LMSW, LPCC, LPC, PC, or RN
- If RN, BSN preferred; ASN considered with additional experience
- Thorough knowledge of physical, medical specialty, and/or mental health community resources and providers
- Thorough knowledge of healthcare services in physical health, behavioral health, or another medical specialty area
- Considerable skill interpreting clinical treatment information and making appropriate referral and triage decisions
- Must meet Magellan credentialing criteria for RN, Masters, or Doctoral-level provider
- Required education includes Associate in Nursing or Master's in Behavioral Health
- Current licensure must meet state, Commonwealth, or customer-specific requirements
- RN candidates must hold state and/or compact state licensure
