About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for the development and underwriting of new product financial and programmatic cost models
  • Work with existing models and customers on product enhancements and modifications
  • Prepare analyses and various ad-hoc projects for executive management
  • Develop, document, and apply underwriting procedures, analytical approach, and requisite tools for new products
  • Review utilization, cost trends, and other assumptions used in pricing models
  • Evaluate cost impact of new product initiatives and assess risk associated with each
  • Direct, oversee, and coordinate with the Manager, Underwriting to ensure appropriate underwriting procedures are applied
  • Provide recommendations on product and customer rates to senior management team for approval
  • Analyze claims detail data from multiple in-house claims processing systems and external claims data
  • Interact with clients/customers and internal staff to resolve issues related to information provided

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • ASA or FSA Required
  • Knowledge of underwriting principles in a managed care environment
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to self-start and work independently
  • Good analytical, reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and must be able to adhere to strict deadlines
  • Willingness to learn new product lines and adapt to changing environment
  • Strong working knowledge Microsoft Office Product suite, specifically Excel
  • Experience with managing large data sets with tools such as MS Access
  • Actuarial pricing experience required
