About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provides full breadth of Child and Youth Behavioral (CYB) counseling services to children of military service members at military installations and off military installations.
- Offers non-medical counseling, training, and health and wellness presentations.
- Consults with parents, personnel, and installation command regarding behavioral health issues affecting children and youth.
- Assigned to Department of Defense (DoDEA) schools and must have experience working in a school setting.
- Provides non-medical, short-term, solution-focused counseling directly to eligible children and youth of service members.
- Works closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact to assure program needs are met.
- Develops effective relationships with community resources and provides appropriate linkages.
- Participates in training sessions, health fairs, and other installation activities focused on children and youth.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s Degree from an accredited Graduate Program in a Mental Health related field
- Valid unrestricted independent counseling license from a State, District of Columbia, US Territory or Commonwealth
- Less than 2 years of post-licensure clinical experience
- Demonstrate intermediate-level competencies in technology and software (i.e., Microsoft Suite, Internet navigation, Smartphone/Tablet and application navigation, video-conferencing platform navigation)
- Ability to engage and communicate with military members or children as assigned
- Ability to traverse short and/or long distances within the base to both indoor and outdoor locations
- Ability to prove US Citizenship and must be fluent in English
- Understanding, sensitivity and empathy for service members and their families
- Ability to work with individuals and families from diverse racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Pass a National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) Clearance, and an Installation Records Check (IRC), Criminal Background Check, and FBI Fingerprints Check.
- Vehicle Operator's License Requirement: Must possess a valid U.S. state vehicle operator’s license.
