About the role
- Cultivate high-performing agile teams to support end-to-end organizational agile maturity, focusing on learning, autonomy, and self-accountability.
- Organize and facilitate daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, retrospectives, and sprint reviews.
- Assemble and review end of sprint metrics with teams and senior leadership; identify anti-patterns and areas for improvement.
- Help surface, identify and eliminate impediments beyond the team’s ability to remove directly.
- Facilitate conversations and resolve conflict using persuasion and powerful questions to guide teams towards better ways of working.
- Assist teams in establishing priorities and evaluating trade-offs to sequence activities that maximize business value.
- Build a trusting and safe environment for raising problems without fear of blame, with emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
- Coordinate execution of deliverables across multiple teams, focusing on scaling and managing cross-team dependencies.
- Surface and facilitate negotiation of technical enablers, NFRs and feature prioritization between product owners and lead engineers, ensuring architectural stability.
- Provide coaching and assistance to the product owner to keep the product backlog well refined, organized and maintained.
- Collaborate with other Delivery Leads and leadership to continuously refine overall business agility strategy.
- Identify, initiate, and participate in scaling ceremonies and activities to manage interdependencies across product areas.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, Agile Coach or in a similar role required.
- Working experience with software development teams and the SDLC is required.
- Bonus experience if served in roles like engineering, QA or DevOps.
- Adept at coaching product managers and development teams on story writing, estimation, refinement, and other agile practices and techniques.
- Proficient knowledge of agile theory, methodology, techniques, rules, and practices, estimating/sizing, planning, reporting, conflict resolution and facilitation.
- Ability to contribute to the direction of the function and provide advice to the team and delivery leadership.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to partner and interact with technical and business stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, analytical, problem-solving skills, mentoring and facilitation skills.
- Highly organized and motivated.
- Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and be a change agent for the team.
- Experience using Atlassian Tools, LucidChart, Figma or similar tools preferred.
- Scaled Agile experience preferred (S@S, LeSS, etc).
- Scrum Master or Agile certification preferred.
- Passionate about agile product development.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and uncertainty, and helping others do the same.
- Deep understanding of communication, group dynamics and coaching, enabling teams to develop trust and safety.
- Understanding and experience of a variety of Agile approaches: XP, Scrum, Kanban, Lean UX, Design Thinking and agile product development practices.
- Comfortable facilitating backlog refinement and teaching best practices such as predictability, vertically slicing stories, estimation, user story mapping, and capacity planning.
