About the role

  • Lead the development and execution of financial strategies, policies, and objectives aligned with MACC’s mission and vision.
  • Provide strategic financial insight to the Executive Leadership Team, the Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with department heads to develop annual budgets and long-term financial plans, ensuring resources are effectively allocated to programs and operations.
  • Oversee all day-to-day financial activities, including financial reporting, accounting, payroll, AR/AP, and internal controls.
  • Manage and optimize cash flow, investments, and capital management.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and transparent financial reporting to meet regulatory requirements and provide information to stakeholders.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including preparing for and overseeing the annual audit process.
  • Coordinate with attorneys and accountants to ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal government requirements and file necessary documentation in a timely manner.
  • Monitor organizational financial performance and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Ensure risk management strategies are in place, including insurance, reserves, and financial policies.
  • Supervise and mentor finance staff, ensuring professional growth and development.
  • Cultivate a collaborative and high-performing team culture within the finance department.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in implementing financial strategies and systems.
  • Provide financial reports to the Board of Directors and executive team, including financial statements, budget performance, and financial forecasts.
  • Meet with and keep the Executive Director regularly informed of financial performance, risks, and opportunities.
  • Meet periodically with the Board Treasurer to review financial status, discuss performance, and address any concerns.
  • Support board decision-making through clear and accurate financial reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, auditors, and funding organizations.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Equivalent experience may be considered for well-seasoned professionals without formal academic credentials.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in financial management, with a significant portion of that time spent in nonprofit organizations.
  • Strong background in nonprofit financial operations, including grant management, fund accounting, and budgeting.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of funding sources, including grants, donations, and earned revenue.
