About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead and manage the Development Engineering Team
Own the product development roadmap from concept through delivery
Drive innovation and continuous improvement across the product range
Provide technical oversight, check engineering approaches, and ensure consistency
Ensure products have high-quality, accurate technical documentation
Manage product investigations and drive root cause analysis and improvements
Embed commercial thinking into product decisions, including cost, utilisation, and scalability
Work cross-functionally to align engineering with customer and business needs
Represent Mabey Hire externally with clients and industry bodies where required
Be accountable to the Engineering Director for product development, support, technical governance, and continuous improvement
Help deliver STEM education activities for children aged 10–13 through the company programme

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong technical judgement and broad product understanding
Experience in the temporary works industry
Proven ability to lead teams and deliver complex workstreams
Commercial mindset and understanding of how engineering drives business value
Confidence operating at strategic and operational levels
Ability to influence and collaborate across the organisation
Proactive, accountable approach with ownership and problem-solving ability
Experience in temporary works or construction products is highly desirable, particularly within the UK market
International exposure is a plus
