About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Manage and optimize PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle databases for performance, security, and availability
Design and maintain database schemas, indexes, and partitions for scalability and efficiency
Monitor databases and perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
Implement security best practices, including access control, encryption, and auditing
Troubleshoot database performance issues and optimize query performance
Ensure compliance with data governance, security policies, and industry standards
Understand business needs and translate requirements into actionable data engineering tasks
Prioritize work and lead daily standups
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align Power BI and data solutions with business objectives
Guide and support the team’s Power BI-related work without requiring direct Power BI development
Mentor team members and drive best practices in data management and reporting
Apply AI and automation to improve software delivery, testing, database reliability, migrations, and operational runbooks

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong PostgreSQL database administration expertise, including performance tuning, security, and backup/recovery
Experience managing PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Oracle databases
Experience designing and maintaining database schemas, indexes, and partitions
Experience with database monitoring, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
Knowledge of access control, encryption, auditing, data governance, security policies, and industry standards
Experience troubleshooting database performance and optimizing query performance
Excellent communication and leadership skills for technical and non-technical collaboration
Ability to prioritize and manage a team’s workload while driving business objectives
Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail
Strong hands-on experience with modern AI models and developer tooling
Ability to use AI for PostgreSQL performance tuning, database reliability validation, migration planning, and operational runbook automation
Experience applying AI to testing workflows, including test scenario generation, regression coverage expansion, and edge-case identification
Proven ability to create practical automation while maintaining quality, security, and auditability
Ability to evaluate AI output quality, select appropriate models/tools, and use secure patterns for sensitive data
Track record of measurable efficiency gains
Willingness to work US EST hours
