About the role

  • Install, configure, and manage Linux servers and applications to ensure optimal performance and high availability.
  • Monitor system performance, perform routine maintenance, and apply updates as needed.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to the operating system, hardware, and network configurations.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices within Linux environments, including firewalls, user permissions, and file integrity measures.
  • Assist in the deployment and management of applications hosted on Linux servers.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting documentation for reference by the team.
  • Support backup and recovery processes to maintain data integrity and availability.
  • Collaborate with development teams to enhance deployment processes and ensure effective integration of Linux applications. Ensure that all RHEL systems are managed in accordance with vendor recommendations and security best practices, while also maintaining compliance with NCA, NIC, and SEC Cybersecurity regulations.
  • Contribute to the management of the operating system lifecycle, including planning for version upgrades and decommissioning.
  • Install, configure, manage, operate, and maintain RHEL server systems and clusters (e.g., RHEL 7, 8, 9). Provide daily operational support, including OS installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, virus protection, and resource management. Manage RedHat HA Extension (PACEMAKER) clusters and support SAP, SAP HANA, and SAP S/4HANA environments on the RHEL platform. Regularly review system logs and OS behavior to proactively monitor and address potential issues.
  • Build strong relationships with the ERP, application, database, and web hosting teams for daily support, troubleshooting, and scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Manage and maintain client agents for server monitoring (SCOM, AppDynamic) and server management (SCCM). Create and maintain technical and detailed design documentation, as well as technical operation documentation. Create, maintain, and delete user/group accounts and implement account policies. Raise and manage support tickets with RedHat, including troubleshooting, log collection, and follow-up.

Requirements

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Years of Experience: 3-5+ years of practical experience in Linux System Administration (RHEL/CentOS) in an enterprise context.
  • Special Technical Skills: Proficient in RHEL (versions 7, 8, 9) and RHEL Clustering (Pacemaker). Extensive experience in supporting SAP/SAPHANA on RHEL. Demonstrated ability in the installation, monitoring, troubleshooting, and patch management of operating systems. Experience in managing user and group accounts. Familiarity with monitoring solutions such as SCOM/AppDynamics and management tools like SCCM.
  • Special Generic Skills: Capability to work in a 24/7/365 shift environment. Excellent documentation skills, including design and operational documentation. Strong teamwork abilities for effective collaboration with application and database teams. Awareness of cybersecurity regulations (NCA, NIC).
  • Decision Authority Matrix: Authorized to install, configure, patch, and maintain all RHEL systems and clusters. Responsible for daily operations, monitoring, and troubleshooting of the RHEL environment. Empowered to create and manage user/group accounts and their associated policies. Oversee the entire lifecycle of vendor support tickets for RedHat.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) are a plus.
  • Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure) for deploying and managing Linux applications.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with remote teams.
