About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide independent 2LoD review and challenge of the consolidated Life EWRA and track progress against actions arising from the EWRA.
  • Execute independent oversight and review of activities carried out by the First Line of Defence (1LoD) including their oversight of outsourcing arrangements with its Third Party Administrators and reliance arrangements with its Intermediaries.
  • Establish a working framework covering Fraud prevention for 2LoD to support, advise and challenge 1LoD Fraud prevention controls and procedures.
  • Provide 2LoD review and challenge of Life 1LoD Risk and Controls Self Assessment actions.
  • Provide 2LoD advice, guidance and challenge to Life 1LoD teams on Global Financial Crime Standards.
  • Manage Life 1LoD exception requests to Global Financial Crime Standards.
  • Prepare regulatory and board/committee reports from a 2LoD perspective to support business activity and escalate any financial crime risks that require attention.
  • Support risk decisioning in Life as per M&G PLC's Financial Crime Risk Appetite and Risk Decisioning Matrix as 2LoD.
  • Oversee adoption of the Group issue management framework for financial crime and provide 2LoD review and challenge of progress against actions logged.
  • Implement actions for 2LoD arising from Assurance / Audit Findings relating to UK Life businesses.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Established financial crime experience within Financial Services, in a Second Line of Defence (2LoD) capacity, with a deep understanding of financial crime risks.
  • Strong knowledge of UK financial crime laws and regulations relating to all areas of Financial Crime, including in the context of financial services industry.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with senior stakeholders and to challenge, communicate and explain independent 2LoD risk decisions.
  • [Desirable] Experience in the life insurance and pensions sector.
  • [Desirable] Relevant experience with regulatory requirements for financial crime outside of the UK.
