About the role
- Lyra Health: leading provider of employer mental health solutions, delivering evidence-based blended coaching and psychotherapy models
- Evaluate effectiveness and impact of Lyra’s mental health and well‑being services using clinical research
- Serve as subject-matter expert on clinical practice and mental health research for internal stakeholders (clinical product, data science, marketing)
- Develop research ideas, generate proposals, assess feasibility, and execute studies to produce research products including peer-reviewed papers
- Conduct statistical analyses using utilization and clinical outcomes databases and generate datasets via queries
- Contribute to research write-ups and submit to peer-reviewed publications as author or co-author
- Inform clinical product development, including selection of patient-reported outcome measures and metrics of usability, feasibility, and effectiveness
- Support science communication for external non-science partners (customers, benefits consultants, workforce well-being community)
- Collaborate with clinical researchers, health economists, psychologists, and data scientists to evaluate programs reaching millions of clients
Requirements
- PhD in clinical psychology, health services/outcomes research, mental health, or closely related field focused on pragmatic research methods and statistics within mental health
- 5+ years post-PhD experience required, with at least some non-academic industry experience
- Experience executing research studies with a variety of study designs and data types, including retrospective data, longitudinal designs, cohort studies, and other pragmatic research designs
- Experience as primary lead on long-term research projects from start to finish with multiple collaborators and cross-functional stakeholders
- Extensive experience publishing on clinical outcomes research, including 10+ peer-reviewed publications (5+ as first author)
- Excellent scientific and non-scientific verbal and written communication skills demonstrated through independent composition or presentation of research briefs, conference proceedings, webinars, blogs, or white papers
- Expert knowledge of clinical outcome measures, including patient reported outcomes like the PHQ-9 or GAD-7
- Ability to generate datasets using queries, conduct statistical analyses, and maintain documentation using common statistical languages (e.g., R, SQL, Python) and platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Github, Jupyter notebooks)
- High comfort with technology and willingness to learn new tech tools
- Openness to exploring new ideas and learning quickly in new areas
- Flexibility to respond to constant change, feedback, and improvement in a fast-paced environment
- Compassionate, collaborative communication style; ability to work non-judgmentally and listen to others' perspectives
- Preferred: Clinical psychologist or other mental health care provider with history of patient care
- Preferred: Interest in and/or experience with the integration of AI into mental health care
