About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Leadership of production shift team, including managing, developing and communicating with their team.
  • Assists in planning, directing, and managing the day-to-day personnel and operations of the Production Department.
  • Assists the Production Manager in monitoring and controlling direct operating costs of the Production Department.
  • Is responsible for daily product quality, investigations of quality problems and customer complaints.
  • Administers the Production Department safety program, accident investigations, and safety projects.
  • Assumes overall plant responsibility on off-hours and weekends.
  • Directs maintenance activities within the Production Department by daily and weekly planning.
  • Supervises and monitors all Production Department operations personnel training.
  • Ensures that operators know their responsibilities and holds operators accountable.
  • Ensures that weekly time sheets are filled out accurately and submitted timely.
  • Ensures that the Safety, Quality and Environmental Policy & Objectives are implemented and understood.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university in engineering, or equivalent experience/combined education required with typically, at least 3 years’ experience in engineering, plant operations, or technical field in addition to supervisory experience.
  • OR, in lieu of degree, typically have at least 7 years’ experience in engineering, plant operations, or technical field in addition to supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated strong technical skills in Production area including batch and continuous unit operations, utilities and wastewater.
  • Strong communication skills, verbally and in writing to effectively work with a diverse set of cross-functional groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate others with strong leadership and teamwork abilities.
