About the role
- Provide clear, concise, and timely responses to information requested from NOAA, the Administration, Congress and external partners
- Serve as the Executive Secretary of the Interagency Marine Debris Coordinating Committee
- Support congressional and leadership engagement, including the development of briefing materials, coordinating with staff, and scheduling
- Serve as the media lead for the office; coordinate, and respond promptly to inquiries
- Fulfill timely communications related requests from the Marine Debris Division Chief and Deputy Chief, such as drafting talking points and presentations, coordinating briefing materials, and supporting travel and scheduling, as needed
- Support and coordinate agency processes, such as controlled correspondence, rollout plans, and Information Quality Act reviews
- Synthesize information, write, and copy edit materials for products such as reports, presentations, and web stories
- Maintain the Marine Debris Division's intranet
- Assist with special projects
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree (preferred) in Marine Science, Environmental Science Management, Political Science, or related field
- 4+ years related experience
- Experience supporting senior- leadership by coordinating communications, preparing briefing materials, and facilitating information exchange in support of federal programs
- Experience supporting or coordinating interagency committees, working groups, or collaborative bodies, including meeting logistics, documentation, and follow-up
- Excellent written and oral communications skills
- Strong organization skills
- Experience translating scientific information into plain language
- Experience copy editing documents
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with a wide range of individuals and within teams
- Ability to work on multiple projects, be responsive to deadlines, and shift priorities as needed
- Experience with the Adobe Suite preferred
