About the role
- Data analysis and GIS
- Software development including Python, Integrated Development Environments, debugging principles, continuous integration testing, and automated documentation
- Databases and queries in PostgreSQL
- Working with geospatial applications such as QGIS, libraries such as GDAL, and OGC web services
- Apply horizontal and vertical datums and transformations to point and raster data
- Follow version control best practices and use Git
- Implement mapping standards and digital cartography techniques
- Develop and deploy container-based software solutions
- Support creation and delivery of improved national nautical charts and hydrographic surveys
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software, GIS, and analysis into operational products
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in GIS, Remote Sensing, Marine Science, Engineering, Biology, Oceanography, or related field
- 5+ years of related experience
- Proficient in Geospatial data systems configuration; production techniques; and database manipulation
- Experience with digital cartography, image processing, concept formulation, metadata documentation, software architecture and engineering
- Experience with integration of general software applications, GIS software, statistics, and GIS operation
- Proficient in Python, Integrated Development Environments, debugging principles, continuous integration testing, and automated documentation
- Experience with databases and queries in PostgreSQL

- Knowledge of horizontal and vertical datums and transformations for point and raster data
- Version control experience and best practices (e.g., Git)
- Experience with mapping standards and techniques
- Experience with container-based software development and deployment platforms
- Knowledge of different types of remote sensing data
- Experience working with the government sector is beneficial
