About the role
- Own Luna's financial planning process, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range strategic plans that align with board and investor expectations.
- Build and lead a high-performing FP&A team capable of delivering timely, accurate financial insights that drive decision-making across the organization.
- Develop sophisticated financial models that evaluate growth scenarios, market expansion opportunities, pricing strategies, and investment trade offs.
- Partner with business unit leaders to establish financial targets, track performance against plan, and identify corrective actions when needed.
- Design and maintain executive dashboards and KPI frameworks that provide real-time visibility into business performance across all functions.
- Serve as a key strategic advisor to the CFO and executive leadership team on capital allocation, investment priorities, and growth initiatives.
- Lead financial due diligence and modeling for strategic partnerships and health system MSA agreements.
- Translate financial data into compelling business narratives for board presentations, investor updates, and strategic planning sessions.
- Partner with Operations, Clinical, and Therapist Acquisition leaders to optimize unit economics, improve contribution margins, and drive profitable growth.
- Collaborate with the VP of Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) to align revenue forecasting with cash flow projections and working capital management.
- Own pricing strategy and analysis, working cross-functionally to optimize payer contracts, cash pay rates, and health system partner agreements.
- Drive deep understanding of unit economics across service lines, geographies, and customer segments to inform resource allocation decisions.
- Lead profitability analysis at the market, payer, and service line level, identifying opportunities to improve margins while maintaining clinical quality.
- Partner with Finance and RCM teams to ensure accurate financial reporting of gross-to-net revenue, reimbursement trends, and collection performance.
- Lead financial planning for capital raises, investor reporting, and board materials in partnership with the CFO.
- Develop and maintain investor-grade financial models and metrics that demonstrate Luna's growth trajectory and path to profitability.
- Manage relationships with external stakeholders including investors, lenders, and financial advisors as needed.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations for capital deployment decisions including technology investments, market expansion, and organizational scaling.
- Build scalable FP&A systems and processes that can support Luna's growth from $100M to $500M+ in revenue.
- Champion data integrity and cross-functional alignment between FP&A, Accounting (Controller), RCM, and business intelligence teams.
- Mentor and develop FP&A team members, establishing clear career paths and technical training programs.
- Drive continuous improvement in forecasting accuracy, reporting efficiency, and analytical capabilities.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive finance experience with at least 5 years in FP&A leadership roles, preferably in high-growth healthcare or services businesses.
- Proven track record of building and scaling FP&A functions in companies with $50M-$500M in revenue.
- Experience supporting board and investor stakeholders with financial presentations and strategic recommendations.
- Deep expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and Excel/Google Sheets; experience with modern FP&A and/or other BI tools strongly preferred (ie, Tableau)
- Strong understanding of healthcare economics, reimbursement models, and payer dynamics.
- Exceptional communication skills with ability to translate complex financial concepts for non-finance audiences.
- Strategic mindset balanced with operational rigor and attention to detail.
- Collaborative leadership style with ability to influence across functions without direct authority.
- Education - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field required.
- MBA from a top-tier program is strongly preferred.
- CFA, CPA, or other relevant finance certifications are required
