The Sr. Director, Assistant Controller plays a key role in shaping Lumos’s financial future by leading our accounting and reporting functions with precision and vision. This leader ensures accuracy and integrity across general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, fixed assets, revenue accounting, and supports payroll, benefits, and tax functions.
Beyond overseeing monthly, quarterly, and annual closes, the Assistant Controller builds confidence in our numbers, strengthens internal controls, and delivers insights that guide business decisions. This role sets policies, resolves complex accounting challenges, and ensures Lumos scales with transparency and compliance.

Requirements
Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP with the ability to research, evaluate, and advise on complex accounting issues.
Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills with the presence to influence executive decision-making.
Proven ability to design and implement effective internal controls and accounting policies in a SOX or SOX-like environment.
Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail and the ability to synthesize insights for senior leadership.
Proficiency with Oracle or similar accounting systems, Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel), and report writing tools.
Strong problem-solving orientation with a track record of driving process improvements in financial operations.
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 5 years in public accounting (Big 4 preferred).
CPA required, Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or higher required.
Demonstrated success leading financial reporting functions in a growth-oriented environment.
Experience managing a team of 10 or more people strongly preferred.
Experience in the telecom, fiber, or technology industries strongly preferred.
Proven ability to lead teams and manage cross-functional accounting operations.
