About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- The Editor will be responsible to create, proofread, and modify content for LRN.
- The individual in this role will be responsible for web content, copy edit and make sure that documents are grammatically correct, readable, and correspond with the brand image and target audience of the company and partners.
- Copy edit courses to eliminate spelling and grammatical errors, consistency issues, lapses in style, and typos.
- Proofread at critical stages to ensure accuracy is maintained.
- Ensure content conforms to US English language standards.
- Ensure content meets LRN and/or its partners’ requirements and preferences for style, tone, reading level, and audience.
- Ensure proper page layouts with regard to text and image formatting.
- Perform comprehensive proofread on course audio script and QA audio version.
- Perform QA checks on video as it relates to audio and text and watch for issues with other eLearning media.
- Maintain centralized project documentation.
- Assign copy editing and proofreading to freelance editors as needed to maintain schedules.
- Maintain an open and clear communication channel with the Planning team, Project Managers, and the rest of the project team throughout the Content Development of the course.
- Communicate and traffic information to freelance editors on projects you assign them; field their questions; ensure on-time delivery of work.
- Ensure standards for quality and consistency are met successfully at the end of each course review.
- Provide status reports as requested by planning, project managers, or content leaders.
- Maintain and advance JIRA tickets as needed.
- Ensure all material produced by LRN is of the highest quality and consistency.
- Maintain on-time delivery.
- Assist in defining, developing, and refining internal content review processes and practices, including the LRN style manual.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate or Post Graduate with specialization in English language preferred; candidates with Journalism as their subject will also be considered
- Must have English as a first language
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Minimum 3 years of experience
- Competency with Chicago Manual of Style, 16th edition (17th just released in 2017), and Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, 11th edition
- Should be a perfectionist, with a keen eye for detail and understanding of linguistic trends and phrasing
- Superb planning and organizational skills
- Enthusiastic and proactive Interest in eLearning, adult education, and upgrading skills constantly
