About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Establish new and manage existing commercial relationships with payment providers.
  • Agree new contracts and improve payment-provider terms and conditions.
  • Ensure payment providers offer the products, features and services needed across checkout, scheduled payment plans, and customer ad-hoc payments.
  • Support and deputise for the Head of Payments on key international expansion decisions.
  • Manage day-to-day relationships with payment partners and act as a liaison between internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage new and amended agreement processes.
  • Negotiate pricing.
  • Run weekly calls and QBRs, and identify and track opportunities.
  • Administer payment accounts and support internal controls to minimise risks.
  • Recommend ways to optimise customer payment operations while aligning with organisational objectives.
  • Build relationships with business owners across Managing, Selling, and Scaling operations.
  • Keep the company informed about local and international regulatory compliance.
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and actual monitoring of payment processing fees.
  • Monitor industry trends, innovation, and competitor payment offerings.
  • Leverage external technical supplier, vendor, and partner relationships.
  • Manage and improve VCC supplier-payment operational efficiency, acceptance, and incentives.
  • Educate the company on the payments industry, trends, evolution, and business impact.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Track record managing payments commercial relationships, negotiating and improving terms.
  • Knowledge of the payments ecosystem, stakeholders, and drivers across card and alternative payment methods, ideally across Europe.
  • Outstanding commercial insight and ability to identify and realise business opportunities.
  • Extensive network and ability to find answers for unknown elements.
  • Experience building best-in-class payment journeys balancing customer experience, cost reduction, and fraud prevention.
  • Ability to translate company needs to external partners and find solutions.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced/high-growth business, such as FMCG, e-commerce, or technology.
  • Relentless attention to detail.
  • Hands-on approach and diligence in driving value accretion.
  • Detailed understanding of effective processes and reporting.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Previous travel experience is desirable.
