About the role

  • Financial Data Preparation: Import financial data (1,000–25,000 lines) to complete asset-level journal entries for comingled and PE fund investment vehicles.
  • Reconciliations: Perform bank reconciliations and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Expense Management: Review and approve property managers’ weekly draw requests for funds required to cover operating expenses and capital expenditures.
  • Variance Analysis: Review and prepare variance analyses on third-party property managers’ financial statements, investigating unusual fluctuations and unexpected activities.
  • Property Tax Management: Maintain tracking databases to ensure timely payment and accurate recording of property taxes across the portfolio.
  • Policy Oversight: Assist in developing and ensuring adherence to internal policies and procedures, including cash management, bad-debt write-offs, and expense capitalization.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Prepare recurring and ad hoc analyses of revenue, expenses, and capital expenditures at the portfolio and asset levels for senior management and external investors.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with and support internal and external property management and asset management teams as needed.
  • Cash Projections: Collaborate with the capital markets team to maintain forward-looking projections of the cash position for each investment vehicle.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Three (3) years experience in accounting for a multifamily or single-family rental (SFR) owner/manager.
  • Proficient in Excel and General Ledger/Property Management Software Program is required.
  • Experience with Propertyware and/or NetSuite is a plus.
  • Ability to effectively present and information and respond to questions from management, vendors, and associates.
  • Adhere to tight deadlines and quick turnaround for deliverables.
  • Strong written and oral skills.
  • Accurate with a strong attention to detail.
