About the role
- Manage a team of Underwriters that underwrite for our Wholesale HECM channel
- Provide credit decisions and recommendations for complex situations
- Leads and directs the work of their team of underwriters
- Review and develop underwriting guidelines to ensure compliance
- Hire and train new underwriters to the team
- Interacts and collaborates with other Department Managers and Account Executives
- Attend scheduled Operational and daily Round Table meetings
- Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations
Requirements
- 3-5 years proven experience in Underwriting Management
- 3-5 years proven experience in Underwriting mortgage transactions
- Reverse experience is required
- Knowledge of Wholesale mortgage business channel
- Extensive knowledge of FHA HECM, and Proprietary loan programs
- Above average oral and written communication skills
- Above average customer service, and analytical skills
- Ability to collaborate with sales on complex transactions and perform resolution management
- Ability to Coach, Mentor, and Train employees
- Intermediate working knowledge of PC applications (Word, Excel, MS Outlook, SharePoint)
