About the role
- London & Partners is the Growth Agency for London, a not-for-profit public private partnership funded by the Mayor of London and commercial partners.
- Purpose: Business Development Executive covering the Northwestern United States and Western Canada, reporting to the SVP in San Francisco.
- Territory: primary target cities San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis, Vancouver, and Calgary.
- Primary function: source, develop and maintain relationships with high-growth tech businesses seeking access to the European market and promote London as the preeminent base for European trade.
- Support UK businesses entering the US by assisting GTM strategy and making introductions to corporates, investors, and local stakeholders.
- Activities: lead generation, targeted market research using Crunchbase/PitchBook/CB Insights/Thomson Reuters/KPMG reports, represent London & Partners at conferences, and plan/deliver trade delegations and VIP visitor programs.
- Public speaking: speak at virtual and in-person events on London/US value proposition and comment on sectors including GenAI, Web3, and frontier innovation.
Requirements
- Education: educated to degree-level or equivalent. A degree in business, law, or international trade is preferred.
- Background: minimum of two years’ experience in a sales or business development role and enjoy working in a target driven business.
- Executive Presence: comfortable and authoritative when engaging with senior stakeholders in business and politics.
- Industry Knowledge: passionate about emerging technology and venture capital; respected as an expert.
- Presentation Skills: able to speak at both in-person and virtual events to technical and generalist audiences.
- Enthusiasm & Drive: bringing energy and positivity into the role; independent thinker with a bias for action.
- Mobility: based in San Francisco with regular travel across the US and Canada and an annual trip to the UK.
- Preferred: post-graduate degree in international business; experience in GTM, sales, or marketing at a tech scaleup or in venture capital; experience speaking at high profile tech conferences.
