About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Cultivate strong member relationships through high-quality sales and service
- Promote and sell savings, depository accounts, consumer loans, and insurance products
- Refer cross-sell opportunities to business partners
- Execute Member Experience protocols and identify financial needs and referral opportunities
- Process consumer web applications accurately and promptly, including loan funding and documentation
- Review credit reports to identify relationship-deepening opportunities
- Use credit scoring, lending practices, regulatory knowledge, and judgment to make lending decisions
- Explain loan denials and explore alternative options
- Respond to member inquiries by telephone, SMS, and email
- Conduct member interviews to gather information, resolve discrepancies, and verify underwriting documentation
- Analyze income documentation to assess financial qualifications and support underwriters
- Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, Fair Credit Lending Practices, and Credit Union policies
- Assist with audits when required
- Participate in staff development programs
- Report to work on time and perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- 4-year / Bachelor's degree
- Sales experience
- At least 1 year of consumer lending experience
- Thorough working knowledge of consumer lending regulations
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Excellent telephone manners and headset technique
- Thorough working knowledge of depository and loan products, account insurance, account vesting, and consumer lending
- Working knowledge of verifying and understanding income documentation
- Ability to multitask across multiple systems simultaneously
- Knowledge of credit union systems, documents, reports, policies, and procedures is a plus
- Actively registered as a Mortgage Loan Originator with the NMLS, or must obtain registration within 6 months
- Successful completion within 6 months of New Hire Training, New Accounts, Consumer Loan Training program, Membership Officer Authority, and Contact Center Basics
- Successful completion of Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) certification within 9 months
