About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Accurately assigns appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes to outpatient records
  • Abstract essential data elements for tracking, reporting, and reimbursement purposes
  • Keying, billing and collections for assigned client databases
  • Review and analyze medical records for document deficiencies
  • Ensure accurate coding and compliance with Federal and State regulations
  • Verify accuracy of patient account, type, and demographic data
  • Meet productivity standards set by Revenue Integrity Coding department

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 1+ years of professional coding work experience
  • Nationally recognized coding certificate (CCA, CCS, CPC or AAPC certification required)
  • Knowledge and understanding of ICD 10 CM and CPT 4 coding guidelines and practices
  • Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
  • Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Preferred: 1+ year(s) of coding experience in an acute care or medical office setting
  • Preferred: 2+ years of work-related experience with computer data entry and retrieval skills within an electronic medical record system
