About the role

Lead technical delivery across team, lab, and occasionally platform levels within Homes Digital Lab
Act as co-lead alongside the Product Owner, jointly accountable for end-to-end delivery
Own and drive the technical roadmap and application delivery
Provide line management and mentorship to engineers and contribute directly to software engineering output
Champion engineering excellence and modern development practices
Build strong relationships with stakeholders across product, design, and business teams to ensure alignment and transparency
Report to the Lab Engineering Lead and support transforming and maintaining direct customer journeys
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, unblock technical challenges and prove out new patterns and solutions
Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, resilience, and cost awareness
Ensure the team is equipped with necessary tools and resources to succeed

Strong technical background in full stack Javascript development (ideally Node and React)
Proven experience defining technology vision and architecture working closely with lead architects
Deep, inquisitive focus on technology with a track record of identifying optimisation opportunities
Hands on experience in improving team productivity, morale and overall efficiency
Solid background in resilience and security by design
Experience ensuring teams take full ownership of production issues and a customer-first approach
Passion for developing talent and attracting/retaining engineering talent to build high-performing teams
Knowledge of cloud platforms (Ideally Azure) and source control platforms (such as GHE) would be useful
Familiarity with DevOps tooling, including continuous integration pipelines and containerisation
Experience in line management, mentorship, and people leadership
