About the role

  • Lead formulation and delivery of strategies, policies and processes to identify risks and advise the business to mitigate and control them
  • Lead and develop a risk specialist centre of excellence aligned to the Group’s Enterprise Risk Management Framework (ERMF)
  • Provide advice to senior leaders and Risk Owners on risk appetite decisions and support strategic transformation
  • Be part of management’s technology leadership team and provide thought leadership, insight and oversight as the second line of defence
  • Own and maintain effective risk policies and control objectives, ensuring legal and regulatory alignment
  • Build strong partnerships with risk and control owners and act as operational risk expert
  • Implement data-driven monitoring and automation to track risks in real-time and report to stakeholders
  • Innovate and provide practical advice to senior leaders to enable informed decision-making

Requirements

  • Deep practical knowledge of operational and IT systems risk in financial services (technology asset lifecycle, configuration/build management, service management, capacity/change/problem/incident management, architecture, engineering/application development including DevOps, resilience, networking, cloud services and shared responsibility models, storage/databases, operating systems, virtualisation, containerisation, mobile)
  • Demonstrable curiosity and understanding of emerging technologies (inc. AI, Digital Ledger Technology, Quantum)
  • Experience developing and managing policies, risk appetite, and compliance with laws, regulations and industry standards
  • Ability to assimilate complex data, make informed decisions, and balance risk and opportunity
  • Strategic foresight to anticipate regulatory, technological and industry changes
  • Strong collaboration, influence and inclusive leadership skills
  • Experience driving continuous improvement, data-led control objectives, coaching and enabling rapid organisational change
