About the role

  • Experience successfully managing multiple tasks, projects, and technical staff
  • Managing the working and reporting output of teams of construction administrators and inspectors for major tunnel infrastructure projects
  • Including attending progress meetings, developing meeting minutes and submittals reviews, and preparing daily and weekly inspection reports
  • Report on and track status reports
  • Ensure quality and compliance with regulatory bodies
  • Ensure proper health and safety protocols are being adhered to on site in accordance with OSHA
  • Coordinate and follow-up with all engineering disciplines to review shop drawings, RFIs, and other relevant construction documentation as required
  • Attend bi-weekly meetings, risk registry workshops and scheduling workshops, and any other required meetings and coordination with utility companies, approval agencies, client etc. as may be required throughout the course of construction
  • Track red-line drawings with contractor and ensure adequacy of information being captured
  • Ensure that the contractor is adhering to all contract requirements and enforce such requirements should they not be adhered to
  • Provide feedback on construction schedule submissions including narrative reports and two-week look-ahead schedules provided by the contractor
  • Assist with maintaining an up-to-date deficiency log and ensure all deficiencies are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Assist with maintaining, updating, and reviewing tracking sheets/logs for risk registry, RFIs, RFQs, CCOs, submittals, working days, other issues, etc., and ensure that relevant documents are provided and dealt with in a timely manner
  • Assist with and coordinate all required materials testing under the consultant's scope
  • Prepare daily inspection reports sufficiently detailed and maintained
  • Perform construction inspection assignments or site visits of ongoing construction/rehabilitation work and attend progress meetings
  • Oversee construction projects from construction start through construction completion
  • Communicate technical and non-technical information in a concise, timely, and professional manner
  • Demonstrated success developing relationships with clients and contributing to business growth
  • Proficiency in technical writing including letters and daily reports
  • Participate in regional initiatives, conferences, committees, and community associations.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience working on major tunnel construction projects
  • Bachelors degree in relevant area of study required; masters degree a plus
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License is preferred but not required
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) Certification and/or Nationally Certified Tunnel Inspector (NTIS) Certification is preferred
  • Must have proven work history as a Resident Engineer and/or as a Construction Manager with tunneling experience
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making and teamwork skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients
  • Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, interact with other staff, collaborate with other disciplines.
