About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Join LIC in this Seasonal role for around 6 - 7 month to support our Animal Health team
You’ll be responsible for producing accurate parentage matching and test results, delivering these clearly and reliably to customers, and resolving customer queries related to laboratory reports
Supporting the Data Analyst Team Leader and wider team
You’ll help create a positive, engaged team environment where quality and collaboration matter
You’ll take ownership of producing high‑quality parentage matching and genetic test results that customers can rely on
This includes following data analysis protocols, applying sound judgement, preparing and checking reports for approval, and ensuring validated data is accurately uploaded to LIC systems
You’ll also proactively identify and resolve data or process issues, helping maintain the integrity of New Zealand’s national parentage database
Working closely with customers, CRM teams and internal stakeholders, you’ll help resolve results‑related enquiries in a timely and professional manner
You’ll support escalated decision‑making where needed and contribute to quality management, ISO 17025 requirements, and Kaizen continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong interpersonal communication skills
Clear and effective writing and presentation skills
General knowledge of laboratory processes and procedures (advantageous)
Hands-on experience with word processing, spreadsheet, LIMS and database software
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including working with large data sets
Experience in process analysis, implementation and process control
Ability to communicate confidently with customers and resolve enquiries or complaints effectively
Experience working in an ISO 17025 environment (preferred)
Functional knowledge and experience of health and safety legislative requirements
