About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Join LIC in this Seasonal role for around 6 - 7 month to support our Animal Health team
  • You’ll be responsible for producing accurate parentage matching and test results, delivering these clearly and reliably to customers, and resolving customer queries related to laboratory reports
  • Supporting the Data Analyst Team Leader and wider team
  • You’ll help create a positive, engaged team environment where quality and collaboration matter
  • You’ll take ownership of producing high‑quality parentage matching and genetic test results that customers can rely on
  • This includes following data analysis protocols, applying sound judgement, preparing and checking reports for approval, and ensuring validated data is accurately uploaded to LIC systems
  • You’ll also proactively identify and resolve data or process issues, helping maintain the integrity of New Zealand’s national parentage database
  • Working closely with customers, CRM teams and internal stakeholders, you’ll help resolve results‑related enquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • You’ll support escalated decision‑making where needed and contribute to quality management, ISO 17025 requirements, and Kaizen continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Clear and effective writing and presentation skills
  • General knowledge of laboratory processes and procedures (advantageous)
  • Hands-on experience with word processing, spreadsheet, LIMS and database software
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including working with large data sets
  • Experience in process analysis, implementation and process control
  • Ability to communicate confidently with customers and resolve enquiries or complaints effectively
  • Experience working in an ISO 17025 environment (preferred)
  • Functional knowledge and experience of health and safety legislative requirements
