About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and ship core product surfaces end to end, primarily on the web and in the CLI
- Design and implement features that make LiveKit intuitive and powerful for developers
- Engage directly with developers and customers to understand use cases and identify rough edges
- Move quickly from prototype to production, iterating based on real usage
- Contribute to technical and product decisions shaping future development
- Write production code in TypeScript and Go across the stack
- Build dashboards, tooling, observability, and debugging surfaces for LiveKit's platform
- Continuously measure, seek feedback, and iterate to maximize product impact
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6+ years of engineering experience, including meaningful time shipping product end to end
- Strong TypeScript coding skills and fluency with modern web frameworks
- Comfort with Go is a plus
- Track record of building user-facing software adopted by developers or technical users
- Experience working on dashboards and interfaces for robotics applications
- Strong product sense, including user experience, trade-offs, and value
- Comfort framing ambiguous problems and shipping solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Genuine excitement about physical AI, robotics, and enabling developers
- Experience with developer platforms, SDKs, CLIs, or APIs is nice to have
- Experience operating production distributed systems, including Kubernetes-based deployments, analytics/telemetry, and observability, is nice to have
- Hands-on hardware or robotics experience is nice to have
- Open source contributions are nice to have
- Background in realtime, audio/video, or AI tooling is nice to have
- Based in or willing to spend time in the San Francisco Bay Area is nice to have
- Legally authorized to work in the US or country of residence
- Must indicate whether future sponsorship support would be required
