About the role
- Lead the localization design strategy for games and interactive experiences, defining guidelines, standards, and best practices to ensure content adapts seamlessly across markets, languages, and cultural contexts.
- Redesign game content within the Unity Editor when localization impacts gameplay; adapting layouts, UI, parameters, and features to accommodate text expansion, right-to-left language support, iconography, and culturally sensitive content.
- Design and produce layouts, levels, parameters, and features for our games inside the Unity Editor, following set guidelines.
- Collaborate with Production and regional stakeholders to plan game releases aligned with company goals and market-specific requirements.
- Drive retention and engagement by collecting qualitative feedback from user tests with kids (ages 2–8) across target markets and quantitative data from regional metrics, then translating insights into design decisions.
- Develop and maintain in-depth technical design documentation, including localization specifications for region-specific assets, and communicate requirements across teams.
- Ensure technical optimization of games, including localized builds, and promote quality standards for consistent player experiences regardless of language or region.
- Assist in prototyping game experiences using internal tools, including early validation of cultural and linguistic adaptations.
Requirements
- 4+ years as a Level Designer or Technical Game Designer, ideally in mobile or educational gaming.
- Proven experience designing and shipping games or interactive experiences in Unity.
- Proficiency in Unity Editor for level design, feature configuration, and game parameters.
- Strong understanding of technical optimization practices in Unity.
- Experience writing and maintaining in-depth design documentation and specifications.
- Solid grasp of interaction design, game mechanics, player motivation, and level design principles.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills across disciplines (production, UX, art, engineering).
- High-quality standards and attention to detail in gameplay polish.
- Nice to have: Experience with children's digital content or products for young audiences (2–8 years old).
- Familiarity with scripting logic or visual scripting tools.
- English is a must: We’re a multicultural team providing a service in English, so while certifications aren’t necessary, fluency is essential.
