About the role
- Partner directly with Engineering leadership to own searches for all engineering role types (product, infrastructure, AI, & more)
- Drive top-of-funnel efforts through high-signal sourcing, targeting engineers known for product, design and technical excellence
- Conduct thoughtful, in-depth assessments of technical fluency, ownership mindset, and product sensibility
- Build trust with candidates as a knowledgeable, candid representative of Linear’s culture and values
- Maintain pace through structured, transparent communication and a fast, feedback-rich process
- Continuously refine your approach based on candidate quality, funnel signals, and market conditions
- Ensure data integrity and visibility in our ATS (Ashby) and keep hiring partners closely looped in
- Shift to support other teams and roles as needed; act as a generalist recruiter
Requirements
- 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, with a strong track record of hiring exceptional engineers at startups or growth-stage companies
- Demonstrated success as a strong sourcer—proactive, strategic, and creative in how you identify and engage top talent
- Deep familiarity with the Bay Area tech market and a strong engineering network
- Clear, persuasive communicator who can deliver honest feedback and build candidate trust
- Operator with sense of urgency, autonomy, and a strong sense of ownership
- Enthusiasm to contribute to a small, fast-moving team that values quality and intentionality over volume
- Experience hiring for developer tools, infrastructure, or design-oriented engineering teams
- Familiarity with Linear’s product or with companies that share our focus on software craftsmanship
- Adaptable generalist who can quickly learn and support hiring across other functions (e.g., go-to-market) as company needs evolve
- Must be based in the United States (job only supports hiring within the US)
- Experience with ATS (Ashby) and maintaining data integrity in an ATS
