About the role
- Perform and review RIC qualification testing including the 90% gross income test and 50% diversification test
- Assist in preparation/review of tax provisions, excise tax calculations, and distribution requirements
- Draft and review financial statement tax footnotes and disclosures in accordance with GAAP
- Support preparation and review of federal and state tax filings for mutual funds and ETFs
- Manage and review Form 1099 reporting and disclosures to investors
- Partner with accounting, operations, and portfolio management teams to ensure data accuracy
- Support analysis of foreign market investments, including PFIC reporting, FATCA/CRS considerations, and treaty implications
- Assist with FBAR filings, India tax compliance, and EU withholding tax reclaims
- Research and document tax issues under the guidance of senior staff
- Assist with audits and regulatory examinations related to fund tax matters
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in investment fund taxation (mutual funds, private equity, or hedge funds)
- 4 year/Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent work experience
- Strong knowledge of taxation and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of RIC tax rules, Subchapter M, and related compliance requirements
- Experience with financial statement tax footnotes and 1099 reporting/disclosures
- Demonstrates excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining strict attention to detail
- Confident, comfortable communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Apply concepts such as probability, statistics, modeling, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical solutions
