About the role
- Lead and develop a team of mechanical engineers, including design, project, process, and simulation engineers.
- Oversee project planning by creating detailed job logs (unit lists) and weekly resource schedules.
- Manage resource allocation, forecasting, and workload balancing across multiple projects.
- Evaluate and procure outside engineering support; participate in sourcing decisions.
- Ensure adherence to and continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes, and documentation.
- Provide technical leadership in the design of complete weld systems, including tooling, motion systems, transfers, and station layouts.
- Support the selection and specification of mechanical components as needed.
- Lead internal and external design reviews; ensure designs meet Fori and customer standards.
- Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Controls Project Engineers to ensure seamless project execution.
- Serve as a technical point of contact with customers, addressing design-related issues and driving resolution.
- Step in as Project Engineer when required to ensure project continuity and success.
Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design or engineering management, ideally in automation or welding systems.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and manage engineering teams and outside design resources.
- Strong background in mechanical design; proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
- Knowledge of spot and MIG welding systems and familiarity with NAAMS components.
- Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with Autodesk Vault is preferred.
- Familiarity with Epicor Kinetic ERP systems is a plus.
- Ability to travel up to 10% (including travel to Canada); U.S. Passport required.
