About the role
- Responsible for mechanical aspects of projects including facilities preparation, equipment design and equipment installation
- Work on engineering solutions to improve equipment reliability and safety, lower operation and maintenance costs, and improve ergonomics
- Engineer solutions that comply with ISO 14001 and EHS initiatives
- Interface with engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, and R&D departments to ensure accuracy of project design details
- Provide technical support to Production and Maintenance departments
- Create and modify mechanical drawings using SolidEdge CAD software
- Develop mechanical improvements and tooling design for existing machinery
- Investigate product warranty reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
- Develop and recommend equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis and proposals for integrating machinery, equipment, and tooling
- Monitor and evaluate production parameters including scrap generation and identify ways to reduce scrap and ensure product quality standards
- Author operational procedures and work as a collaborative team member or team leader on strategic projects
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering (other engineering disciplines considered with appropriate experience)
- Level II minimum 3 years experience; Level III minimum 5 years experience
- Knowledge of Solid Edge and MS Office software is a must
- Able to create and modify mechanical drawings utilizing established standards using SolidEdge CAD software
- Practical process knowledge with hands on approach to production troubleshooting, installations, and testing
- Experience working & interacting with contractors, consultants, and vendors/suppliers for prototyping and process improvements
- Knowledge of wire manufacturing and/or wire drawing is a plus
- Experience or familiar with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing concepts is a plus
- Ability to work under general supervision and carry out routine and semi-routine tasks independently
