About the role

  • Responsible for mechanical aspects of projects including facilities preparation, equipment design and equipment installation
  • Work on engineering solutions to improve equipment reliability and safety, lower operation and maintenance costs, and improve ergonomics
  • Engineer solutions that comply with ISO 14001 and EHS initiatives
  • Interface with engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, and R&D departments to ensure accuracy of project design details
  • Provide technical support to Production and Maintenance departments
  • Create and modify mechanical drawings using SolidEdge CAD software
  • Develop mechanical improvements and tooling design for existing machinery
  • Investigate product warranty reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Develop and recommend equipment specifications, performance requirements, cost analysis and proposals for integrating machinery, equipment, and tooling
  • Monitor and evaluate production parameters including scrap generation and identify ways to reduce scrap and ensure product quality standards
  • Author operational procedures and work as a collaborative team member or team leader on strategic projects

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering (other engineering disciplines considered with appropriate experience)
  • Level II minimum 3 years experience; Level III minimum 5 years experience
  • Knowledge of Solid Edge and MS Office software is a must
  • Able to create and modify mechanical drawings utilizing established standards using SolidEdge CAD software
  • Practical process knowledge with hands on approach to production troubleshooting, installations, and testing
  • Experience working & interacting with contractors, consultants, and vendors/suppliers for prototyping and process improvements
  • Knowledge of wire manufacturing and/or wire drawing is a plus
  • Experience or familiar with Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing concepts is a plus
  • Ability to work under general supervision and carry out routine and semi-routine tasks independently
