About the role

  • Oversee operation and maintenance of quality equipment and related analysis
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of results
  • Maintain calibration processes for quality equipment and associated standards procedures
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and implement preventive maintenance plans
  • Directly manage and develop direct reports
  • Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with R&D, Procurement, Safety, Operations, IT/MES, and other QA teams to align processes and standards
  • Support new product development and material qualification initiatives
  • Identify and implement short-term improvements
  • Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for long-term departmental transformation
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives to achieve full traceability of steel materials within production systems
  • Monitor instrument performance, maintain consumables inventory, and coordinate service with vendors

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Engineering (required)
  • 5+ years in quality, steel analysis, metallurgy, or related manufacturing environment
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams
  • Preferred familiarity with OES or similar analytical equipment
  • Strong understanding of steel chemistry and material properties
  • Knowledge of calibration processes and standards for analytical equipment
  • Digital integration technologies and MES systems expertise
  • Excellent problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
  • Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
