About the role
- Oversee operation and maintenance of quality equipment and related analysis
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of results
- Maintain calibration processes for quality equipment and associated standards procedures
- Troubleshoot technical issues and implement preventive maintenance plans
- Directly manage and develop direct reports
- Foster a culture of creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Partner with R&D, Procurement, Safety, Operations, IT/MES, and other QA teams to align processes and standards
- Support new product development and material qualification initiatives
- Identify and implement short-term improvements
- Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for long-term departmental transformation
- Lead digital transformation initiatives to achieve full traceability of steel materials within production systems
- Monitor instrument performance, maintain consumables inventory, and coordinate service with vendors
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Engineering (required)
- 5+ years in quality, steel analysis, metallurgy, or related manufacturing environment
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams
- Preferred familiarity with OES or similar analytical equipment
- Strong understanding of steel chemistry and material properties
- Knowledge of calibration processes and standards for analytical equipment
- Digital integration technologies and MES systems expertise
- Excellent problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset
- Effective communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
