About the role

  • Prepare budgets and proposals daily using spreadsheets; analyze client documentation, detail requests using CAD software, obtain quotes for specific materials from suppliers, and estimate manufacturing resources to offer the best supply proposal to clients.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings daily using prior knowledge and team meetings to align information with client requirements.
  • Produce technical drawings using platforms such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks daily when required to detail the client’s project, estimate costs, and support production.
  • Assess the profitability of products, projects, and services daily by tracking project development, actual versus estimated costs, to verify the accuracy of estimated costs.
  • Conduct technical inquiries by contacting clients, suppliers, staff from other departments, and Engineering leads as needed to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
  • Prepare estimates for use in supplier or subcontractor selection using spreadsheets and technical drawings daily to acquire required project components.
  • Review work requirements through team meetings and spreadsheet calculations as needed to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
  • Research domestic and international markets for frequently purchased materials or services via email, phone, and technical visits as needed to prepare and maintain a supplier directory.
  • Perform special studies to determine required production hours through meetings and necessary means to reduce production costs together with Factory Planning.

Requirements

  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Technical course in Mechanical, Electromechanical or related areas
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Course in Costing and Sales Price Formation or budget planning
  • Advanced level reading and interpretation of mechanical technical drawings
  • Knowledge of corporate ERP systems
  • Advanced skills in AutoCAD 2D; 3D is desirable
  • SolidWorks knowledge is desirable
  • Basic fabrication knowledge (boilermaking/sheet metal, welding, and machining)
  • Basic knowledge of People Management, Processes, and Project Management
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (PDCA; DMAIC)
  • 3 to 5 years of experience
