About the role
- Ensure compliance with all legal, quality, environmental and occupational health & safety requirements
- Responsible for cost-optimized procurement strategies taking quality and risk into account
- Actively reduce purchasing costs through consolidation, VA/VE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering) methods and process optimization
- Serve as the subject-matter expert for the assigned commodity group in Europe, including market, cost and supplier analyses
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies, including alternative suppliers
- Build and manage long-term supplier relationships and framework agreements
- Identify new, competitive sources of supply
- Coordinate and facilitate alignments with internal stakeholders
- Support plants/sites with supplier, quality and capacity issues
- Maintain purchasing, contract and KPI information
- Participate in cross-site reviews and projects
Requirements
- Completed commercial training or degree, e.g., Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management
- Several years of professional experience in purchasing
- Ability to read, interpret and clearly communicate technical drawings and specifications
- Ability to assess product and service quality of suppliers
- Very good knowledge of ERP systems, spreadsheets, presentation tools and MS Office applications
- Strong communication skills in dealing with colleagues, customers and suppliers
- Confident English skills, both written and spoken
