About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build LILT Converse, an on-device instant translation application
  • Work at the intersection of on-device AI and polished mobile UX
  • Own the Android application end-to-end, from architecture to performance tuning
  • Collaborate closely with ML, product, and design teams
  • Architect new features and integrate on-device ML models
  • Optimize performance and manage large local model assets
  • Ensure reliability in real-world conditions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4+ years of professional Android development (Kotlin), with a track record of owning a production Android app end-to-end
  • Strong Android fundamentals: Android SDK, Jetpack, lifecycle, background work, and storage APIs
  • Experience integrating native libraries via NDK/JNI
  • Comfort optimizing performance on physical devices
  • Experience with offline-first applications and large on-device assets
  • Real-time audio on Android: microphone capture, TTS/speaker output, and low-latency audio pipelines
  • On-device speech pipeline integration
  • Enterprise deployment familiarity
  • Bias toward shipping reliable software in demanding, real-world conditions
  • On-device ML runtime integration (strong plus)
  • External display / kiosk UX (strong plus)
  • Secure data handling (strong plus)
  • Prior work with government, defense, or enterprise customers (strong plus)
  • Deep speech/audio domain expertise beyond app integration (bonus)
