About the role
- Design, model, and tune in-game economies including currencies, sources/sinks, pacing, and reward distribution.
- Define and maintain progression systems, live events, and reward structures that drive engagement and sustain healthy player progression.
- Establish economic models and set parameters to maintain balance and prevent inflation/deflation across the player base.
- Partner with Analytics to monitor key metrics, set alerts for economic anomalies, and implement corrective adjustments when necessary.
- Define pricing frameworks and value propositions for in-game content, offers, and bundles (including regional considerations).
- Translate high-level design goals into clear economy specs, data tables, and configuration templates with acceptance criteria and rollback plans.
- Collaborate with design, engineering, UI/UX, and analytics teams to develop, test, and deploy live economy updates safely and efficiently.
- Specify telemetry requirements for tracking key performance indicators such as retention, progression pacing, and player engagement.
Requirements
- Significant experience designing or tuning in-game economies, progression systems, or meta layers, with at least one shipped title or live update supported post-launch.
- Strong craft in systems and economy design: currencies, pacing, reward loops, and player motivation.
- Proven ability to identify and correct economic imbalances (inflation, reward loops, drop rate tuning).
- Experience delivering scalable meta systems such as seasonal progression, collection loops, or reward ladders.
- A modular, data-driven mindset – you build reusable systems, templates, and tools that scale safely with content.
- Comfortable working hands-on with editor tools and data models to iterate quickly and effectively.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to clearly define systems and their intended outcomes.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including proficiency with Excel/Sheets (pivots, lookups, modelling).
- A strong sense of player empathy and value perception across different audiences and regions.
- **Desirable**
- Background in behavioural economics, or formal training in micro/macro-economics.
- Experience working with first-party platforms, regional pricing, and entitlement systems.
- Familiarity with live service pipelines, telemetry systems, and rollback planning.
- Exposure to content pipelines and localisation workflows.
