About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Design and ship backend services on our Go, Postgres, and Kinesis stack
  • Work across a broad surface area, from high-throughput ingestion pipelines to payment and entitlement systems to AI-backed personalisation
  • Partner day-to-day with product managers, designers, mobile engineers, and data to turn fuzzy problems into well-scoped services
  • Use AI coding agents as a first-class part of your workflow
  • Own features end-to-end from RFC through production

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Expert at building backend systems in Go, ideally in a microservice or modular-monolith context
  • Comfortable reaching for another language when the problem calls for it (we have some legacy Python hanging around)
  • Strong with event-driven architectures. We use Kinesis heavily; prior exposure to event sourcing & CQRS is a real plus
  • Comfortable on AWS, with Kubernetes (we run EKS) and infrastructure as code
  • You use AI coding agents in your daily work - we’ve standardised on Claude Code
  • Strong communicator across disciplines
  • Genuine curiosity about the problem, not just the code
