About the role
- Perform on-site diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on heavy equipment
- Operate independently in the field, often without close supervision
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems with accuracy and efficiency
- Prioritize safety while delivering results under challenging conditions and tight timelines
- Maintain detailed service records and prepare accurate documentation for each job
- Use diagnostic tools and software to assess equipment condition and performance
- Communicate effectively with customers to understand issues, set expectations, and provide updates
- Collaborate with parts and service departments to ensure timely repairs and parts availability
- Provide emergency breakdown support, including nights, and weekends as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked service vehicle
- Represent the company professionally while on customer sites
- Participate in ongoing training to stay current with evolving equipment technologies
- Support machine assembly and complete factory updates
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a Heavy Equipment Technician (Field Service experience is strongly preferred)
- Provincially Recognized Heavy Equipment Certification is strongly preferred - 421A or Red Seal
- Ability to travel extensively across Northwestern Ontario, including remote, off-grid locations
- Working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical components
- Demonstrated diagnostic and troubleshooting skills, component exchange, repair and warranty related activities
- Ability to read and understand schematics and technical drawings
- Able to effectively communicate detailed and complex information in a clear and concise manner
- Self-motivated with the ability to work alone, unsupervised for extended periods of time
- Fully proficient with computers and Microsoft Office suite
