Key responsibilities & impact

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned
Help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth
Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society
Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and abilities to excel in sport assigned
Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in athletics
Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill requirements of district’s curriculum program
Show written evidence of preparation as required
Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles
Fulfill all coaching responsibilities and duties as assigned
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned
Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP)
Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements
Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
Ability to obtain a CDL with passenger, air brake and safety endorsements
Knowledge of academic subject assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and supervise student athletes
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
Ability to pass annual and random DOT physical/drug testing
Ability to physically perform a front and back door bus evacuation
Ability to physically perform CPR and First Aid techniques on the ground or floor
Ability to lift 30lbs
Ability to maneuver effectively in a school bus
Capable of responding calmly in emergency situations
