Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned
  • Help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth
  • Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society
  • Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and abilities to excel in sport assigned
  • Contribute to education program as a whole and to growth of students involved in athletics
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill requirements of district’s curriculum program
  • Show written evidence of preparation as required
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles
  • Fulfill all coaching responsibilities and duties as assigned
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP)
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements
  • Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
  • Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
  • Ability to obtain a CDL with passenger, air brake and safety endorsements
  • Knowledge of academic subject assigned
  • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Ability to instruct students and supervise student athletes
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules
  • Ability to pass annual and random DOT physical/drug testing
  • Ability to physically perform a front and back door bus evacuation
  • Ability to physically perform CPR and First Aid techniques on the ground or floor
  • Ability to lift 30lbs
  • Ability to maneuver effectively in a school bus
  • Capable of responding calmly in emergency situations
