About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Expand relationships with existing customers by directing and supporting collaborative sales efforts to grow assigned product lines and end markets
  • Assist Account or Strategic Account managers with closing qualified customer opportunities
  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Strategic Account customers, Branches, support resources, purchasing, and management
  • Work on technical product development and identify product business opportunities
  • Maintain awareness of competing products and market activity
  • Provide product technical support for customers, Account Managers, and Branches
  • Achieve sales targets in assigned product lines and/or end markets
  • Support product-line success of assigned Branches
  • Lead demand-generating activities in the assigned market and product specialty
  • Establish professional relationships with key associates and customer accounts
  • Recommend product applications and functions by reviewing specifications and evaluating new product ideas
  • Assess competition, market activity, customer feedback, and sales call results
  • Provide product and end-market training
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through continuing education and industry groups
  • Conduct product presentations and develop sales tools and training materials
  • Support marketing collateral development and implement sales plans
  • Drive ongoing improvement in sales and profitability
  • Manage product-related customer support, feedback, and inquiries
  • Coordinate market research
  • Travel to customer sites and job sites, including overnight travel as needed
  • Perform other duties as trained and qualified for

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 4-year College degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 6 years of sales experience in a business-to-business, large/strategic customer segment, or a record of achievement in the Account Manager position
  • Product certification or equivalent technical credential
  • Reliable transportation is a must
  • Ability to travel 60%+ as required, including overnight travel
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required
  • Background checks and drug screening may be required
  • Advanced product knowledge and good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to research and analyze market conditions
  • Ability to identify key competitors and customer trends
  • Ability to articulate end market requirements and opportunities
  • Ability to identify opportunities for product innovation and enhancements
  • Ability to support sales and marketing with product knowledge and technical expertise
  • Ability to conduct product presentations
  • Ability to develop sales tools and sales training material
  • Ability to manage and communicate with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, inventory sheets, and procedure manuals
