About the role

  • Answers both emergent and non-emergent calls for service.
  • Prioritizes and dispatches appropriate personnel to calls for service.
  • Monitors critical organizational technologies: to include cameras, access control doors and alarms (emergency, infant abduction, fire, burglar, weapons detection, etc).
  • Utilizes computer aided dispatch and incident reporting systems to document all calls for service completely and accurately.
  • Processes timely and accurate entries, deletions and modifications through the National Crime Information Center.
  • Maintains accurate department documentation.
  • Coordinates requests to appropriate outside agencies, as needed (police, fire, EMS, etc.)
  • Ensures proper management of department warrant processes.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel/vendor.
  • Assumes select access control duties after hours such as basic troubleshooting and printing badges.
  • Prepares written reports of investigation based on his or her actions.
  • Accesses the NCIC and South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) database for investigative purposes.
  • Ensures operation compliance with Federal, State, County, Organization, and Department standards.
  • Ensures accurate and timely dissemination of information to supervision.
  • Ensures timely resolution to requests.
  • Any other request assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education : High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum Years of Experience : 1 Year of communication, law enforcement/public safety or related experience such as military service
  • Required Certifications/Licensure : National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certified or obtain NCIC certification within 6 months of hire; Must have and maintain a valid South Carolina’s driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle record and background screening as outlined in the Vehicle Safety policy (Subject to annual Motor Vehicle Record review and satisfactory results).
  • Required Training : Successfully complete training in Criminal Justice Information Systems Security and Awareness; Experience with Windows Operating System (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint); Ability to read and write English fluently and follow both written and oral directions.
