About the role
- Administer and maintain MySQL databases, with a strong focus on performance tuning, optimization, and maintenance
- Support MS SQL Server administration, including regular maintenance, backup management, and performance monitoring
- Set up proactive monitoring and alerts using Zabbix (or other monitoring tools) to ensure database health
- Troubleshoot and optimize slow-running or problematic database queries
- Resolve transaction-related issues such as deadlocks, hung transactions, and locking problems
- Design, implement, and test robust backup and disaster recovery strategies
- Collaborate with technical colleagues to resolve database-related challenges efficiently
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on MySQL administration experience
- MS SQL Server administration background
- Strong knowledge of storage engines (InnoDB vs MyISAM)
- Proven expertise in query optimization and troubleshooting performance issues
- Experience with deadlock resolution and transaction management
- Backup/restore strategy implementation experience
- Familiarity with Zabbix monitoring or similar tools
- Clear communication skills to explain technical issues to non-specialists
- Honest, proactive, and efficient approach to problem-solving
