About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Manage personal injury files for both tort and accident benefit claims from intake through resolution
- Prepare, draft, format, and review legal documents, including court materials, applications, correspondence, hearing-related documentation
- Act as a liaison between lawyers, clients, and external parties, ensuring timely communication and follow‑up
- Coordinate the collection, review, and organization of supporting documentation from clients, medical providers, insurers, and third parties
- Prepare summaries of medical and other records, create medical chronologies, identify key issues, and manage client productions and undertakings
- Assist with trial and hearing preparation, including case books, chronologies, evidence summaries, and related materials
- Maintain accurate and well‑organized electronic file management, ensuring documents are properly saved and tracked
- Implement and maintain an effective bring‑forward (BF) system to track deadlines, commitments, and follow‑ups
- Prepare assessable and non‑assessable disbursement lists and assist with accounts and billing documentation as required
- Track time spent on files accurately and consistently
- Proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve file and practice management
- Use professional judgment and knowledge of the file to suggest next steps and identify potential issues
- Independently apply approved AI tools to improve efficiency and quality of work, exercising judgment to ensure outputs meet professional standards
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Law Clerk Diploma or equivalent education and experience
- At least five (5) to eight (8) years of experience as a Law Clerk in a litigation environment
- Plaintiff Personal Injury experience is an asset
- Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and experience with legal document management systems (e.g. Primafact, OneDrive)
- Familiarity with legal research tools and case management software (e.g. Relativity, ACL) are assets
- Demonstrates initiative by anticipating needs, taking ownership of tasks, and offering solutions
- Applies sound judgment and critical thinking to decision-making
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple files simultaneously
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve administrative and procedural issues
- Demonstrated interest in personal injury law
- Experience working with technology in a hybrid environment
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
