About the role

  • Support engineering with moderately complex engineering duties and other hands-on tasks, particularly focusing on Internal Research and Development programs
  • Researches, collects, and reports information on the ability and capacity of company products and competing equipment.
  • Aids in the design and development of equipment and systems, and redesign of existing systems to fulfill the needs of customers.
  • May act as technical liaison to the Advanced Concepts and Business Development leads, assisting them in validating design concepts and qualifying opportunities
  • Understand, manage, and operate within the set test cadences to ensure all tests are performed efficiently and on schedule
  • Provide technical support and troubleshoot issues during integration/test events
  • Reviews project instructions and drawings to ascertain test specifications, procedures, objectives, test equipment, nature of technical problem and possible solutions, and to support the test design and setup
  • Possess and utilize hands-on skills to include use of various hardware and software-related tools to troubleshoot, resolve issues, load software, etc.
  • Able to work independently for a weekly basis
  • Have a strong familiarity with test range operations to effectively manage and conduct tests
  • Work confidently in shop and lab environments and maintains a working knowledge of the DRS product base
  • Provides hands-on feedback to engineers
  • Adapt to flexible test schedules and be prepared to adjust plans as necessary to meet project demands
  • May coordinate maintenance projects
  • Mentor and coach less experienced technicians
  • Represent DRS in a professional manner at all times, ensuring high standards of conduct and performance.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 4+ years of relevant experience
  • Familiarization of blueprints and wiring schematics
  • Must have strong mechanical skills
  • Soldering and wire bonding experience a plus
  • Fundamental understanding of computer systems, operating systems, and configuration files, a plus
  • Willing and able to travel 50-75% of the time
  • Experience working with Electronice Warfare and/or weapons systems a plus
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.
